Draíocht - Lyra - Dyed in the Fibre
Welcome to our new yarn called 'Draíocht' meaning Magic in Irish. It's a gorgoeus blend of 70% Corriedale and 30% of Rambouillet.
Corriedale is known for it's smooth fibre and decent staple length, thanks to this crossover of the bouncy Merino wool and the lustre of Lincoln Longwool. Difficult to spin a fine yarn with, but it creates a beautiful DK! Rambouillet has a lower micron count, meaning its quite lovely to wear against the skin. By combining these fibres, we've created a uniquely rustic yarn that softens so beautifully when worked with and blocked.
We've created this base in two ways, the first is to allow us to hand dye over the undyed yarn, giving us total freedom that I love so much about hand dyeing. And the second is the fibre was dyed in our vat then spun through the mill. Of course we love to blend our colours in the mill, so that it isn't a "flat" colour, and offers depth instead.
